Herbal Teas & Spices

About Our Herbal Teas & Spices

Herbal teas, also known as herbal infusions or tisanes, are beverages made from the infusion or decoction of herbs, spices, flowers, or other plant materials. Unlike true teas, such as black, green, white, and oolong teas, which are derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, herbal teas do not contain any leaves from the tea plant.

Wildcrafted’s Organic Herbal Teas & Spices complement our whole range of Wildcrafted Herbal Products. They are of medicinal grade quality and of the highest quality available in Australia.

Some herbs do not grow well in Australia and these are sourced from overseas in order to achieve the quality and standard that we require for our medicinal grade, organic herbal teas.

How To Best Prepare Your Tea

Preparing your tea in order to get the most most benefit from your tea is easy. Boil sufficient amount of water for service size. Use 1 teaspoon of herb per cup you intend to make. Experiment with amount of herbs as to how strong you like to make your herbal tea. Put herbs into teapot, then add boiling water and let steep for 5-10 minutes. Strain tea as you poor it into the cup(s).

You may find you can reuse the herbs a couple of times to make more tea.

These are just some examples of how you can combine different herbs to create great tasting teas with additional health benefits.

Herbal Teas & Spices - Using Spices to Make Awesome Teas

Herbal teas & spices can add wonderful flavours and aromas to your herbal tea, creating unique and delightful combinations. Below are a few examples of popular spices that you can use to make awesome tasting teas:

  1. Cinnamon: Cinnamon adds warmth and sweetness to tea. You can use cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon. Simply add a cinnamon stick or a pinch of ground cinnamon to your tea while it’s steeping.

  2. Cardamom: Cardamom has a distinct and aromatic flavour. Crush a few cardamom pods and add them to your tea for a fragrant and slightly spicy taste.

  3. Ginger: Ginger adds a spicy kick and can help soothe digestion. Grate or slice fresh ginger and add it to your tea while brewing. You can also use dried ginger powder.

  4. Cloves: Cloves have a strong and pungent flavour. Add a couple of cloves to your tea for a warm and slightly sweet taste.

  5. Star anise: Star anise has a licorice-like flavour and adds a subtle sweetness to tea. Add one or two star anise pods to your tea for a unique taste.

  6. Nutmeg: Nutmeg has a warm and slightly sweet flavour. Grate a small amount of nutmeg into your tea for a cozy and comforting taste.

  7. Peppercorns: Peppercorns can add a subtle spiciness to tea. Crush a few peppercorns and steep them with your tea leaves or tea bags.

When using herbal teas & spices to make your delicious tea, you can either add them directly to the teapot or infuser along with the tea leaves or a spice infuser for easy removal after steeping. Adjust the quantity of spices based on your personal preference for taste and strength. Experiment with different herb and spice combinations to find your favourite flavours. Enjoy!
