Phase 1 of Constructing Kurrajong Natural Medicine Centre

The first thing that needed to happen was to remove unwanted structures. A small kitchenette containing a hot water system and a tiny little sink in a very small space, needed to go.

After

Now the canvas was clear it was time for the builders to start their construction. The plan is as follows

Now building the frame work for the new walls could start…

The building materials were delivered - over 200 lineal metres of wooden beams, and 120 square metres of floor boards

Now it was time to lay the floor so that the new walls had a solid, level foundation. You see the building is over 100 years old and over time the existing floor left a lot to be desired. So a new floor was laid over the top of the old one.

All I can say about having to nail down new floor boards is ‘thank God for the invention of nail guns’!!!

Now that there was a solid, level new floor in place, the new walls could be constructed

At the end of the third day we’d finished laying the new floor in the shop, both the treatment rooms, waiting room and the dispensary.

The stud walls were in place an the doors were hung (and they fit perfectly…)

So, after only 3 days the basic structures and rooms are there. The next phase will be cladding the walls, painting them, covering the new floor and building and fitting out the various rooms and the shop…so stay tuned.
